The Smith College Libraries lend an assortment of media equipment to current Smith College students, faculty and staff with a valid OneCard. Before some equipment can be borrowed, an annual loan agreement form may need to be completed. Borrowers assume all responsibility for equipment during their loan periods, including replacement or repair costs in the event of theft or damage.
Laptop chargers, headphones, media players and calculators can be loaned during all open hours.

The standard loan period for digital media equipment and laptops is up to 3 days. Renewals may be approved and depend upon equipment availability. Equipment to be loaned for semester-long coursework is arranged with instructors; once arranged, individual students can check out the equipment at the Central Service Point.
In the event that borrowed equipment is not returned or if the returned equipment is damaged, the borrower will be charged the repair fee or replacement cost, which may be assessed proportionately based on the age of the equipment.
If problems occur with borrowed equipment, please return it and report the problem to the service desk from which the item was loaned. ITS staff are available at the Neilson Library ground floor Central Service Point to answer your question about computer and digital media equipment and policies. To submit questions online, complete the Digital Support online form.
