Alumnae Gymnasium

Library buildings are open to students, faculty, and staff in the campus COVID-19 screening program, as well as faculty emeriti, Five College students enrolled in Smith courses, and Smith research affiliates. Masks continue to be required in all indoor shared spaces. A OneCard is required for access and will work at any library building entrance. Please note that library buildings are not open to the public at this time. Please email with any questions.

Alumnae Gymnasium

The newly renovated Alumnae Gymnasium is an extension of the Neilson Library, housing additional staff, technology, spaces and services. The building will provide a dynamic environment in which students, faculty and visiting scholars can work individually and collaboratively, sharpen their skills in digital media labs and employ the latest technology to preserve and create digital exhibits of their work.

Alumnae Gymnasium is open 24 hours per day. 

Spaces & Technology

  • Connector Tunnel to Neilson Library Alumnae Gym - Lower Level
  • Knowledge Lab - AG 202. The Knowledge Lab is equipped with dual screen workstations available for workshops, events and individual media production work. In addition to the workstations, there are digital displays on all walls and an instructor podium. A cart of laptops equipped with GIS software is available for use by ITS and Libraries staff or course instructors to teach spatial data methods and for creation of digital maps.
  • Computer Lab - AG 207. Workstations equipped with video and audio production software. Reservable by Neilson staff and course instructors only; open for use when not otherwise reserved.
