Faculty: Request Library Instruction

Due to COVID-19, library instruction is being offered through Zoom meetings.
COVID-19 Library Services

  • Synchronous Course Instruction: Librarians are working on planning course-related instruction delivered remotely for the Fall semester. If you would like to plan a Zoom research instruction session for your students on the research process, working through a specific research assignment or how to use library resources, complete the form below or contact your department’s library liaison directly.
  • Asynchronous Course Instruction: Librarians can pre-record video instruction sessions or create short instructional videos on library research for your course. Contact your department’s library liaison to learn more.

Instruction sessions are tailored to the needs of a class or assignment. Teaching librarians can also teach your class about citation management using Zotero.

Tips for a successful library instruction session:

  • Contact the teaching librarian, archivist, or curator at least a week in advance. The instruction calendar fills up quickly, so request early in the semester (or even before the semester begins). Consult the list of teaching librarians or teaching archivists and curators.
  • Work with the librarian, archivist, or curator to establish learning outcomes for the session.
  • Make sure students understand their research assignment and have a possible topic in mind before coming to the class.
  • Attend the session -- your presence conveys the value you place on developing strong library research skills. Your students will pick up on this.
  • Actively participate in the session (i.e. interject information, ask questions, encourage students to ask questions).
