Giving Opportunities

Smith students and faculty thrive on the exceptional library resources and services that lie at the heart of the Smith experience. Join the hundreds of alumnae and other supporters who help maintain the excellence of Smith’s libraries through philanthropy.

  • Join the Friends of the Smith College Libraries to provide consistent annual support for the Libraries.
  • Contributions supporting the major renovation of Neilson Library and the Alumnae Gymnasium can be made by giving to The Smith Fund: Resourceful Smith. Your support will ensure that Neilson Library continues to be a vibrant hub for learning and scholarship. To learn about leadership giving opportunities to support the New Neilson, contact Betsy Carpenter '93, director of development at 413-585-2052 or ewcarpen@smith.edu.
  • The Libraries’ Special Collections have special needs. To explore unique funding opportunities that support Special Collections development priorities, please contact the Director of Special Collections, Elizabeth Myers, emyers@smith.edu.
  • Donate online or send a check to the Smith College Gift Accounting Office, 23 Elm Street, Smith College, Northampton, MA 01063. Gifts of securities may be made by calling 800-526-2023.

Gifts of Materials

Gifts of books and other materials that meet the criteria of the Libraries’ collecting policy are welcome. Read more about Gifts of Materials. Note: Neilson and Young libraries are not accepting gifts until further notice while Neilson Library undergoes a major reconstruction.

Please contact Special Collections for donations of manuscript materials, rare books, and archives.

Matching Gifts

With matching gifts, it is possible to double, triple, or even quadruple your impact. Find out here if your company matches employee charitable contributions.

Endowed Support

Library endowments provide a steady stream of income that protects the Smith Libraries in variable economic times. Library endowments provide critical funds as well as honor Smith alumnae and friends. To learn about specific library needs and how to create an endowment contact the Libraries Development Officer, Mary Irwin, mirwin@smith.edu.

Planned Giving
