Jessica Ryan, Scholarly Communications Librarian, highlights an item in ScholarWorks each month.

The unequal effects of climate change is the focus of this month’s What Am I Reading in ScholarWorks. Economics professor Viz Taraz, along with her co-authors, examine drought in South Africa to study how employment is affected by weather shocks. The impact of the crisis, while broad and deep, will be unevenly spread out.

The research that Professor Taraz conducts is essential to understanding the ramifications of climate on a seemingly unrelated topic such as economics. But if we learn anything from Climate Change let it be a better understanding of the complexity and inter-related nature of everything on this pale blue dot we call home. Read about how this fascinating research was conducted and what the findings were in: “The Impact of Weather Shocks on Employment Outcomes: Evidence from South Africa.”
