For this month’s What Am I Reading in ScholarWorks? I offer up a paper that will give you the sensation of being in the room when experts in a field are breaking down their subject. Neuroscience Professor Mary Harrington is one of those experts contributing to “Beyond the Symptom: The Biology of Fatigue.”

What are the different kinds and mechanisms of fatigue? What are the various theories of fatigue? And what are researchers looking at to discover the implications of fatigue-inducing conditions? This paper covers so much it is at once confirming of any fatigue related issues you may be experiencing but also illuminating into other types all the while surfacing our complicated, interconnected, still-so-mysterious biology. A fascinating read if you, like me, are currently suffering from a heat-induced stupor of fatigue or even if you are as refreshed as the morning sun—enjoy!
