The Smith College Special Collections is opening its doors on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in its new home, Young Library. The staff of the Special Collections, our Reading Room, and our new classroom are now all located on the second floor of Young Library.

Not only does Special Collections include the Sophia Smith Collection and the College Archives, formerly located in the alumnae gymnasium, but the Mortimer Rare Book Collection as well. Everyone is welcome to come in at any time to view materials on the history of the College; rare books, manuscripts, and artists’ books; or materials from one of the world’s oldest and most diverse repositories of the history of women.

Our Reading Room hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and the additional hours of 1-4 p.m. on Sundays, starting on Sunday, September 29, 2017.
