Tell us your Smith College Libraries Story.
I was looking for a job when a close friend told me about an opportunity at Josten Library. During my interview with Janet, I realized I was going to gain much more than just a job. I was becoming part of a supportive and welcoming community. I’ve truly loved working at Josten, especially being surrounded by such amazing people.
Through my time there, I’ve learned a great deal about music, theater and the library as a whole. I’ve found it incredibly rewarding to help people find what they’re looking for. That sense of connection and service has been one of the most meaningful parts of my experience.
Working at the library also helped me realize how much I enjoy interacting with people. When I needed more hours over the summer, Janet connected me with Anne at Neilson Library, which gave me the chance to expand my experience. I loved working at Neilson as well. My experience working in the Libraries has had a very positive impact on me and has helped shape my interest in roles that involve helping others and building community.
Outside of the Libraries, what are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy cooking and going on bike rides with my friends.
If you could impart one piece of advice to incoming first year students, what would it be?
Never be afraid to move out of your comfort zone. There are a lot of things you could do and achieve at Smith.
