Tell us your Smith College Libraries Story.

I started working in Special Collections because I loved using the archives for class during my first year, and I wanted to help make other people's research possible. Halfway through my sophomore year, I saw an opening and applied. Since then, I've loved every part of my job: the atmosphere of the reading room, the hilariously odd things you can find in the archive when you least expect them, the moments of connection with researchers, and the support and guidance I've gotten from all of the lovely archivists.

To see another side of the field, I got a second job in the Library Gifts office at the beginning of my senior year. This gave me a sense of all the behind-the-scenes work in libraries, and how important this work is to keep everything going!

My time here has made a huge impact on me. I met so many wonderful people, and had the opportunity to work on amazing projects. It helped me realize I wanted to keep working in libraries after Smith, to make knowledge and resources available to anyone and everyone. I'll miss the libraries (especially Special Collections), but I'm excited for what comes next!

Outside of the Libraries, what are your interests and hobbies?

I'm co-president of Smith's bird watching club, and I love being outside. I also spend a lot of time running, reading, and hanging out with all of my beautiful and amazing friends.

What is next for you after graduating from Smith?

I'm excited to keep working in libraries! This summer I'm starting a job as a Library Assistant down in North Carolina, where I get to drive a bookmobile :)

If you could impart one piece of advice to incoming first year students, what would it be?

Always stay excited about learning new things!
