Tell us your Smith College Libraries Story.
I started working at Hillyer because I'd always wanted to work in the library in high school. I actually got a job as a library assistant in my senior year of high school, but I was never able to do it because of COVID. Luckily, I was hired at Hillyer during my first year at Smith, and I've loved my time here. I've worked night shifts, morning shifts, and everything in between. I've learned a lot about library organization, and working at Hillyer has been especially helpful for doing my own art history research, since I'm now super familiar with the holdings here. I do hope to keep working in libraries in the future, and I'm considering applying for graduate programs in Library Science next year.
Outside of the Libraries, what are your interests and hobbies?
I love to write, watch sci-fi and fantasy movies, read books in Italian, make playlists, and discover new places to hang out with friends in town. I've also been DJ-ing for WOZQ 91.9 FM for all four years at Smith as well!
What is next for you after graduating from Smith?
I'm not sure! I'm thinking of going to grad school for Art History or Library Science after taking a year or two off to decide my ideal career course.
If you could impart one piece of advice to incoming first year students, what would it be?
Don't fall into routines too much; always be seeking out new things to do! And definitely make sure you find time to take it easy!
