Tell us your Smith College Libraries Story.

I really enjoy working at the library because I encounter so many Smith and Northampton community members. It's great to connect with students, faculty, staff, alums, and local patrons and introduce them to the library's services. I have learned many skills that have been helpful to me in my own studies and research through assisting patrons with their various projects. I feel really confident navigating the library, which is a skill I will take with me for life! I hope to work in the literary community, such as with an arts non-profit or small publishing group, and use the interpersonal skills I have gained through my work at Neilson.

Outside of the Libraries, what are your interests and hobbies?

I write poetry and short stories, I have a tradition of watching a TV series with my group of friends where we watch an episode or two every Friday night, and I love to knit, crochet, and sew.

If you could impart one piece of advice to incoming first year students, what would it be?

Ask for help! So many great staff members are ready to listen and guide you through whatever projects you are working on. Even if it feels intimidating, after you get assistance you'll be closer to learning a new skill.
