Podcast: Talking Woolf and Plath for the C2C Literary Festival

Every year, Charleston, England partners with the USA’s Charleston, South Carolina to produce the Charleston to Charleston (C2C) Literary Festival. The festival hosts notable international authors, American artists, and historians. The most recent festival lineup in November 2019 included Karen Kukil, Smith Libraries’ Associate Curator of Special Collections.

Kukil gave a lecture entitled “Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath: Insights from the Archives at Smith College” with Bloomsbury expert Regina Marler, which is now available as a video recording.

Smith Libraries’ Special Collections holds the papers of both Woolf and Plath, and Kukil co-edited both volumes of The Letters of Sylvia Plath. The second volume was named one of the top books of the decade by the Sunday Times.

This fall, Kukil will be introducing Woolf’s papers to students in Professor Lily Gurton-Wachter's course in Methods of Literary Study, as well as using Plath materials to supplement Susan Faludi's class, Writing About American Society.
