New Library Databases

Boston Globe: Smith College Libraries are thrilled to announce that we now have a site license to the Boston Globe. You'll need to set up an account via the link above but then you will be able to access the Globe through their website or using the app.

Indigenous Studies Source: This database includes curated full-text content on the largest Indigenous populations worldwide. Developed in collaboration with Indigenous experts, this resource covers Indigenous heritage, experiences, and sociopolitical contexts.

  • New Yorker Magazine Archive: Full page scans of the iconic New Yorker Magazine includes 100 years (1925-2025) of cultural history, in-depth reporting, literary fiction, and social commentary, covering politics, pop culture, art and humor.
  • Prayer in the Ancient World: A critical handbook on prayer in the ancient world including an anthology of representative prayers from the major languages and religious traditions.  This resource is still being developed and new content will continue to be added over the next few years.
  • Thesaurus Linguae Latinae: A Latin dictionary compiled at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences in Munich, that covers Latin texts from the classical period up to about 600 A.D.
  • HeinOnline's Immigration Law & Policy in the U.S: A comprehensive database of historical and current documents on immigration law and policy, including hearings, reports, decisions, and several immigration-related acts and legislative histories.
  • Poverty & Inequality- Social Justice and Culture: Newsletters, websites, street papers, videos, podcasts, social media campaigns, outreach flyers, and advocacy reports from groups working to fight poverty, improve quality of life, and expand opportunities for the poor.
  • Media Education Foundation (MEF) Premium Collection: A collection of 179 films that encourages critical thinking about the social, political, and cultural impact of American mass media, with a special focus on representations of gender and race, and the effect these representations have on identity and culture. This collection includes some of our most consistently used film titles and MEF is based right here in Northampton! This purchase also includes 2 years of access for Smith alums.
  • Africa and the New Imperialism European Borders on the African Continent, 1870-1914: Primary source content documenting the period of rapid colonial expansion by European powers across the African continent during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
  • The Tatler 1901-1965: Magazine archive highlighting British high society, from the turn of the twentieth century to the "Swinging Sixties".
  • American Women's Club Magazine 1925-1936: Magazine archive highlighting the social, educational, and philanthropic activities pursued by a women’s club throughout the interwar period.
  • Witchcraft and Magic in England c.1420-1920: Historical collection highlighting the significance of witches, witchcraft, and magic in English history.
