Neilson Library Construction Update, September 18, 2018
New Neilson
Published September 18, 2018
UPDATE: The weather system and related moisture is moving through the area slower than initially reported, therefore the chilled water shutdown this Wednesday thru Friday is cancelled and will be rescheduled.
The chilled water mains passing through Neilson Library must be relocated at this time to continue work on the foundations for the new Library. The shutdown will cut off chilled water to buildings on the distribution system above Neilson Library. It will not impact buildings on the distribution system below Neilson Library.
The temperatures predicted for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week look to be cool enough for HVAC systems to utilize natural outside temperatures to keep buildings comfortable.
The following buildings will continue to operate with chilled water during the three days:
- Athletics - Scott & Ainsworth
- Health Center
- Mendenhall Performing Arts Center
- Ford Engineering
- Science Center Complex - Bass, Burton, McConnell, Sabin Reed
- Tyler Dining
- College Club
The following buildings will not have chilled water distribution:
- Seelye Hall
- College Hall
- Pierce Hall
- Lilly Hall
- Wright Hall
- Brown Fine Arts Center and Museum
- Hatfield Hall
- Dewey House
- Lyman Plant House
- Chapin House & Dining
- Campus Center
- Cutter Ziskind Houses
- 10 Prospect Street
Please note that this work will only go forward on Wednesday if conditions remain good and we can meet the required environmental condition in the art museum during these three days.
