Samm manages the communications program for the Smith College Libraries. Working closely with the Dean of Libraries, the Library Leadership Team, and the communications team, she develops, implements, and assesses a strategic, integrated communications plan that raises the visibility and effectiveness of the libraries’ world renowned collections and services.

An award-winning digital strategist, writer, graphic designer, and photographer, Samm has wide-ranging communications expertise with more than a decade of experience in higher education. She has managed institutional social media accounts with more than 500,000 followers while also writing, photographing, and filming content. She has also led the vision and creation of university content strategy plans, including editorial calendars, campus partner communication channels, and internal cross-collaboration hubs.

Samm is also passionate when it comes to worker justice, and has held a variety of roles in union organizing, leadership, and director-level communications. She is currently in the Union Leadership and Activism (ULA) graduate program at UMass, where she is working toward a masters degree in labor studies.

Samm volunteers as a photographer for a number of organizations, most often as a bereavement photographer for Empty Arms Bereavement Support. She is an alto 2 in Rock Voices, a nationally-recognized community choir, and occasionally picks up an instrument or two and performs with her musically-inclined pals.
