Making Music History Class Explores Facsimiles in Josten Library

MUS 102 Making Music History students visited Josten Performing Arts Library to look at the three volume facsimile edition of Bach’s own copy of The Calov Bible. This was just one of a selection of facsimiles that were displayed and discussed in this first of three classes focusing on the collections of Josten.

MUS 102 Making Music History is an introduction to music history that looks at classical music as both a repertoire and an object of cultural study. It combines a close study of music from the Western classical tradition with research methodology and an orientation to the discipline of musicology.
