The Libraries Annex Project is Complete!

At the Five College Annex facility in Hatfield, MA, staff have successfully re-shelved the Smith College Libraries collection in a way that enables the Libraries to store books and journals in the most effective way. The project began on March 20, 2023 and took 27 weeks to complete. With a crew of eight workers, that’s 8,640 hours devoted to this project, shelving more than 800,000 items stored in 50,000 trays.
Over the course of the project, more than 46,000 items were made accessible by Smith staff by adding them to the library’s record management system (FOLIO). Staff also fulfilled more than 1,200 requests from the Annex collection during the project.
