Lecture: Layers of Perception, The Unwritten Language of Artists' Books, December 2, 2016

Ruth Rogers, curator of Special Collections at Wellesley College, will talk about how we "read" artists' books by deconstructing them so that we may understand how they affect our perception. She will explore how the contemporary artist book offers multiple modes of reading, thought text and image, and material and form.

This is the keynote lecture for the Northampton Book & Book Arts Fair. The lecture will be followed by a reception and the opening of the Fair in the Smith College Campus Center. Co-sponsored by the Mortimer Rare Book Room, Neilson Library.
