On Saturday, April 18, the Smith Office for the Arts (SOFA) will present Smith Arts Day, a daylong celebration of the artistic and creative community at Smith College, bringing the arts together—across disciplines and across campus. SOFA invites you to enjoy performances, exhibitions, workshops, art-making activities, and more.

As part of Smith Arts day, there will be an array of activities throughout Josten and Hillyer Libraries. Mark your calendars and be sure to explore all of the different events!

Hillyer Art Library

Create an Artist’s Book
Hillyer Library First Floor Classroom
2-4 p.m.

Drop in and create a small artist’s book! We’ll have a variety of materials available, including accordion books, to make your own work of book art.

Drop in and Mend!
Hillyer Library Second Floor
2-4 p.m.

Join student Anelise Peterson ’28 for an afternoon dedicated to sustainable care. Come learn techniques for mending textiles. We’ll provide fabric samples to practice on, or you can bring a well loved item in need of repair to work on! This program is in partnership with the Center for the Environment, Ecological Design, and Sustainability (CEEDS), and aims to promote thoughtful fashion consumption.

Beginner Friendly Northampton Ukulele Group Open Rehearsal

Join the Northampton Ukulele group for a group rehearsal on the mezzanine — all are welcome to join, and ukuleles are available for loan at Josten! Interested in more strumming? The community-based Northampton Ukulele Group holds open sessions every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Forbes Library.
