Smith Faculty, come to Neilson Library for “Beyond the Shelves: An Open House” and explore different areas of the library, meet staff, and learn about opportunities, services, and support for you and your students. We look forward to seeing you there!

Browsing Room (102)
Enjoy some light refreshments and start your journey! Meet Dean of Libraries Nancy Kirkpatrick, learn how Smith open access scholarship is preserved and disseminated with Scholarly Communications Librarian Jessica Ryan, and pick up a few handouts to help you navigate Neilson.

Central Service Point equipment and Reserves (Ground Floor)
Meet with staff from the libraries and Information Technology Services (ITS) who offer assistance at the service desks. They provide the Smith community with access to course reserves and various equipment necessary for studying and working. This includes laptops, calculators, chargers, cameras, and more, ensuring that everyone has what they need to succeed in their work and studies.

Digital Media Hub Studios (Ground Floor)
Meet with members of Information Technology Services (ITS) to learn about the media production opportunities and facilities available to support student’s digital communication skills, and get ideas for potential media projects.

Learning Commons (First Floor)
Meet with Teaching, Learning, and Research librarians to discuss possible collaborations with your subject librarian, and explore the hub of peer mentoring services that is available to students.

Neilson Staff Area (309)
Meet with staff from Collections, Discovery, Systems and Public Services to learn how they work to ensure that the Smith community has access to print and electronic resources, as well as Interlibrary Loan materials.

Special Collections (Third Floor)
Meet with Special Collections staff to learn about the unique archival materials and rare books at Smith, and the many opportunities for you and your students to be supported in curricular instruction and research. Attend a first-come, first-serve tour of our staff spaces at 1:30, 2, and 2:30 p.m.
