Start your spring semester with a little winter fun! These frosty, snowy days are the perfect time to warm up in the Libraries and explore two winter-themed exhibits on display on the third floor of Neilson Library.

Smith College Through The Years: Winter Edition!

Compiled by Moby Yang ’28, this exhibit explores winter pastimes, events, sports, and traditions on Smith campus over the years. The collection, made up of items found in the College Archives, includes photos and print-outs featuring Winter Weekend, the height of the competitive Smith Ski Team of the 80s and 90s, and the “Famous Snowball Battle” of 1891.

Ann M. Martin Papers

Also on display are select items from the Ann M. Martin papers. Sourced from the Mortimer Rare Book Collection, this selection contains outlines, drafts, book covers, and more from renowned Babysitters Club author Ann M. Martin. The exhibit showcases early drafts, notes, and the finished book cover from Martin’s Baby-Sitters’ Winter Vacation. Fans of the series can get a glimpse of Martin’s writing process and thoughts as she put together one of the fifteen “Super Special” books of the series.
