Alison Bechdel visited Smith College on March 2nd for a moderated talk with Nanci Young, College Archivist. To celebrate her visit and her long standing relationships with Smith College and Smith College’s Special Collections, original materials surrounding Bechdel’s life, work, creative process, and involvement with local Massachusetts and queer communities are on display in Neilson Library, 3rd floor, till mid-May.
Bechdel is an award winning cartoonist and MacArthur Fellow. The Sophia Smith Collection of Women's History is home to a robust collection of her work, including preliminary sketches for Fun Home, Dykes to Watch Out For, and Are You My Mother?.
