Four Staff Members Receive 2022 Spotlight Awards

Four Staff win spotlight awards

Staff within the Smith College Libraries do exemplary work every day, making sure that students and faculty are connected to the high-quality resources they need. Four Libraries employees were recently recognized for their contributions and have received Spotlight Awards. According to Smith College’s Human Resources, the award is “a means of acknowledging and demonstrating timely appreciation and recognition for the exceptional contributions of individuals at Smith that go beyond the everyday scope of their responsibilities.” The following staff members have been awarded:

Cat Hannula, First Years' Experience and Engagement Librarian As the First Years’ Experience and Engagement Librarian, Cat has developed a dynamic, collaborative and inclusive program of introducing incoming students to services available through the orientation for admitted and transfer students to the Libraries.

Esther Roth-Katz, Social Sciences and Student Research Initiatives Librarian Esther is recognized for her outstanding process improvement, particularly with the launch of the Research Mentors program in the Neilson Library Learning Commons that has become a popular way for students to receive research help from their peers. 

Kate Long, Research Services Archivist Kate is recognized for her outstanding service excellence as demonstrated by her work around distance reference and digitization requests to Special Collections.

Maureen Cresci Callahan, Sophia Smith Collection Archivist  Maureen's clarity of vision and ability to craft policies and procedures aligning with Smith's mission is a benefit to the college in multiple, interlocking ways, as her capacity to craft efficient policies saves her colleagues and the college in general time and resources.
