The Smith College Libraries are preparing to move library collections into the Neilson Library this winter and summer. The move of books and materials identified to return to Neilson from the Annex will begin in late December after fall term. Special Collections materials from the College Archives, Sophia Smith Collection and Mortimer Rare Books Collection will move in summer 2021 after spring term.
Annex and Young Library collections will be temporarily unavailable from December 18, 2020 to January 22, 2021 while books are moved into the Neilson Library. Smith community members are encouraged to plan accordingly; collection requests can be made until December 17, 2020.
Library materials from Hillyer, Josten, and the Five Colleges will continue to be available during this time through contactless pickup in the lobby of Bass Hall, near the entrance to Young Library.
Special Collections materials will be unavailable from June through August 2021 during the move into Neilson Library.
The opening date for Neilson Library and Alumnae Gym will be determined based on the college’s plan for the spring semester.
