Neilson Library Construction Update, July 27, 2020

New Neilson

Published July 27, 2020

The first stages of site work outside of the Neilson Library construction perimeter will begin July 27, 2020. Existing light poles on the walk from the entrance to Bass Hall, passing in front of Burton and up to Chapin Lawn will be replaced with the new poles and fixtures. The walks will be passable.

Work will also begin at the front entry to Wright Hall. The contractor will repair the front bluestone plaza, install a compacted base for the new walks and place fill to start creating some of the new landscape features. Access to Wright Hall will be maintained.

Dickinson Parking Lot: Note that with the gradual opening of campus, contractors and subcontractors on the Neilson Project are required to park at the athletics field contractor parking lot. There are a few of the project admin staff continuing to use Dickinson Lot, who have valid Smith parking decals. Allegrone Construction is working on the Washburn House Renovation and the 12 or so spaces they currently occupy for laydown will open up when the project completes near the end of August.
