ScholarWorks and Open Educational Resources

Published April 27, 2020

Smith ScholarWorks, Smith College’s institutional repository, has some updates to share.

Podcasts

Smith faculty members have contributed over 3000 works to the respository, including articles, abstracts, book reviews, presentations, videos, events, and datasets. For the first time, ScholarWorks has podcasts available as a format type and has started a growing collection.

Jiayan Sun Concerts

Video recordings of Jiayan Sun’s Beethoven Cycle and Schubertiade piano performances are now available through ScholarWorks. Sun is the Iva Dee Hiatt Visiting Artist in Piano and Lecturer in Music at Smith College. Other recordings, such as student dance performances, are also available on the platform. Students, faculty, and staff with a current Smith login can view these recordings.

OER Commons

Smith ScholarWorks has joined OER Commons. The Online Education Resources (OERs) created by Smith faculty are now available to a much wider audience through OER Commons. Demand for OERs is expected to increase as many schools move to remote learning models. Faculty members who are interested in adding their OER content or other research to ScholarWorks may read our LibGuide and contact scholarworks@smith.edu

Smith ScholarWorks, created in 2017, is a repository of digital scholarship and research materials created and curated by faculty, students, and staff at Smith College. The items in ScholarWorks have been downloaded more than half a million times, and are used by researchers around the world.
