Meet Jean Ferguson, New Director of Learning, Research and Technology

Jean FergusonWe are excited to welcome Jean Ferguson to campus as she begins her new role of Director of Learning, Research and Technology. Reporting jointly to Dean of Libraries and Vice President/Chief Information Officer, Jean will oversee three groups within the Learning, Research and Technology (LRT) department: Teaching, Learning and Research (TLR), Learning and Design (L&D), and the Spatial Analysis Lab (SAL).

LRT promotes the use of library collections, teaching with technology, research services, and the emerging uses of technologies. The department also develops library learning spaces to serve changing work and curricular practices and contribute to integrated campus-wide planning for digital and physical learning environments. LRT collaborates with academic support partners, including the centers for writing, quantitative learning, work & life, disability services, and wellness in the goal to prepare students for lifelong learning.

Prior to joining Smith, Jean was the Learning and Research Communities Librarian and Project Lead for the Center for Connected Learning at the University of California, Berkeley and the Head of Research and Instruction Services at Duke University.
