This week, building demolition on the north end of the site will be completed. Concrete slabs on this end are being removed to make way for structural concrete mats for the new building. The removal will require loud hammering through Thursday afternoon, June 7th. On Friday, the floor of the north excavation will be prepared for the placement of insulation and waterproofing. As we move towards summer you will see an increasing amount of activity at the Neilson construction site. The focus of attention for the past 6 months has been preparation of the site for new construction, including hazardous materials removals, demolition, shoring and earth removal. The college has announced that Maya Lin and the architectural firm Shepley Bulfinch have been selected to lead the redesign of Neilson Library.
In the coming months, the college community will be engaged in an important new phase of planning for the future of Neilson Library.
