A member of the Discovery, Access & Digital Engagement department, Janet works with the staff at the Josten Performing Arts Library to make their collections, spaces, and services available, intelligible, and inspiring to library users.. She enjoys demystifying music searches and libraries in general. Ask her for help with any obstacle to library use or enjoyment, including: basic reference help, locating physical and virtual books, scores, and audio/video in the Smith Five-College collections and beyond, as well as finding missing items, understanding loan policies and using Josten’s individual and group multimedia spaces. Contact her to propose a future performance for JostenLive!, a performing arts makerspace (currently on hiatus) that invites Smith’s community of performers and scholars to experiment with music, dance, theatre, sound, space and audience!
A former middle school English teacher and classical DJ, Janet sings in the shape note tradition, reads mostly non-fiction, and is interested in community connections, eternal verities, social justice, sustainability, language, musics, neuro-diversity, food, the banks of the Mill River, swimming, writing, and conversation.
