Metadata Technologies Librarian

Five College Library Annex, 124
B.S., Computer Information Systems, Roger Williams University
Colin works to make sure that the materials found in the library catalog have rich and accurate description. This can take the form of cataloging new titles, generating reports of library data for colleagues, working on cleanup projects and enriching library records in batch. This involves understanding metadata schemas beyond the traditional MARC standard and using different systems and technologies. Colin also works with other departments within the library and with colleagues in the Five Colleges to connect library services, so that patrons will find the materials they need to further their scholarship with the minimum of effort.
New to the area, Colin worked as a metadata librarian in Boston and is reveling in the green space found in the Pioneer Valley. He spends a good chunk of his time visiting family in central Connecticut, training in Muay Thai and relaxing with a pot of tea and a good book.
