Joe maintains the application codebases for Smith's Moodle installations, and two of its WordPress multisite networks. He consults with faculty and staff as they develop curricular projects on these platforms, and develops plugins and themes to meet project and infrastructure requirements.
Joe has worked at the intersection of technology and learning throughout his career. Before becoming a web developer Joe was a fourth grade teacher and school counselor, including seven years as a supervising teacher at the Bank Street School for Children in New York City where he co-developed a collaborative online learning platform. Joe is also co-founder and programming instructor with HolyokeCodes, working primarily with kids learning to code in the Scratch programming environment. Outside of work he enjoys time with his wife and two children, and playing squash.
