Classes at Smith make extensive use of the Libraries’ collections and the expertise of our staff to do cutting-edge research. To help students develop their skills as expert researchers, Smith’s librarians, archivists, and curators offer workshops and class sessions tailored to the needs of a class or assignment. Sessions can focus on the basics of doing academic research; the use of digital tools for finding, organizing and presenting information; or the tools needed to master research in a particular discipline. Teaching librarians can also teach your class about citation management using Zotero. Classes can visit Special Collections for a hands-on encounter with archives or rare books. For more information, see Special Collections Instruction.
Faculty should use this form to request a library instruction session. We also encourage faculty to contact us when creating a research assignment for advice about how to best incorporate the Libraries’ services and resources. To learn more, contact a subject librarian or email us at libraryhelp@smith.edu.
