Friday, October 21 – 5:00 p.m. – Josten Library Mezzanine

Join us for a reading featuring Andrea Hairston, Sheree Renée Thomas, Danian Jerry, and Pan Morigan. Sheree, Danian, Pan, and Andrea will read from their work including sections from Trouble the Waters: Tales from the Deep Blue, an anthology of speculative stories edited by Sheree Renée Thomas, Pan Morigan, and Troy L. Wiggins.

Andrea Hairston is a playwright, novelist, and scholar. She is the Louise Wolff Kahn 1931 Professor of Theatre and Africana Studies at Smith College. She is the Artistic Director of Chrysalis Theatre and has created original productions with music, dance, and masks for over forty years.

Sheree Renée Thomas is a New York Times-bestselling, award-winning editor, poet, and the author of three short fiction and multigenre collections, Nine Bar Blues: Stories from an Ancient Future (Third Man Books, May 2020), Sleeping Under the Tree of Life (Aqueduct Press, 2016, Publishers’ Weekly Starred Review) and Shotgun Lullabies: Stories & Poems (Aqueduct Press, 2011). Her work is inspired by mythology, natural science, and the genius of the Mississippi Delta.

Pan Morigan is a vocalist, composer, writer, and editor. She has performed extensively as a solo artist, presenting her own songs and compositions, and with authors Andrea Hairston, Sheree Renee Thomas, and Danian Jerry.

Danian Darrell Jerry, a writer, teacher, and musician, holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. He is a 2020 VONA Fellow and a Fiction Editor of Obsidian. Danian founded Neighborhood Heroes, a youth arts program that employs comic books and literary arts.
