Margy Jessup serves as the principal steward of digital content for Special Collections, with a focus on long-term digital preservation and access. She accessions, describes, and preserves born-digital content including photos, audio, video, documents, and archived websites. Her other responsibilities include adding content to the Libraries' digital repository (Compass) and providing reference services.
Margy has worked in Smith Special Collections in various capacities for over 25 years, primarily focusing on archival description, audiovisual preservation, and online access to collections. Before coming to Smith College she worked at the Jones Library in Amherst and the University of Massachusetts Amherst Library. Her personal interests include hiking (preferably with a dog or two), yoga, Tai Chi, writing, and gardening.
