Tell us your Smith College Libraries story.

I was advised by a friend to seek out a campus library job, so I applied to all of the openings I could find. I am so grateful and lucky to work with Kate Long, because at Special Collections I was able to interact with materials that I didn’t know were at our school and would become so dear to me. I have learned not only a lot about certain software and archival material handling, but also about my legacy as a Smith student. It has inspired me to involve my liberal arts education in my future career in tech and be adamant about doing so!

Outside of the Libraries, what are your interests and hobbies?

I love to run, act in play(s), watch movies, and write!

If you know, what is next for you after graduating from Smith?

I want to become a software developer or digital forensics expert or both!

If you could impart one piece of advice to incoming first year students, what would it be?

It can be easy to see the comparisons in your education; what you feel you lack or your school lacks. Trust me, I’ll be the first to tell you how much I’ve complained over the past four years. However, I have learned to set aside critique and instead dig for what is already there. We have a really unique, often underutilized thing here at Smith. Special Collections gave me an opportunity despite being far removed from their typical patrons, and because of this, I was able to learn how to appreciate and grow what was already there about me.
